Frequently asked questions

How does MommyRead work?

Record a short voice sample once, then take a photo of any book page. MommyRead recognizes the text and narrates it aloud in your voice, and saves it to your library so you can play it back anytime.

Why does narration sometimes take a little longer to start?

The first narration after a period of inactivity can take up to about a minute while our server wakes up. After that, narration generates normally. Once a page has been narrated, it's cached so replaying it is instant.

The text it read wasn't quite right — what do you do?

You can review and edit the recognized text for any page before saving, which fixes any text-recognition mistakes (for example, with handwriting-style fonts or unusual page layouts).

Can I use more than one voice?

Yes — you can record multiple voices (for example, both parents), and choose which voice narrates each story.

Can I share a story with someone else?

Not currently. Stories created in MommyRead are for personal use within your own account and device.

How do I delete my voice or data?

You can delete any book, story, or voice directly in the app. To request deletion of your voice model from our narration provider, email support@mommyread.com.
